Repertoire paths

Repertoire at Bamboo Prism Piano is chosen for adult hands and adult schedules. We avoid pieces that only impress on paper and prefer music that teaches tone, balance, and patience.

Beginners often start with short classical studies, folk-based arrangements, and simple Bach or Bartók micro-pieces that train reading without overwhelm. Returning players may reopen Chopin preludes, Debussy arabesques, or jazz standards rewritten for clarity.

Intermediate students can request a salon set: two or three pieces that contrast tempo and color, prepared for a living-room performance rather than a contest stage. We discuss edition choices, fingering habits, and how to mark breathing spots in long phrases.

Contemporary scores are welcome when the notation is legible and the technical demand matches your current week. We will say no to repertoire that risks strain; the studio values sustainable practice over bravura.
